Just Peachy Comics About Depression Anxiety Love and Finding the Humor in Being Sad Holly Chisholm 9781510742000 Books Reviews

  • Loved the gentle, honest truth this book possesses. Navigating life is HARD. Toss in depression, anxiety and other issues we as humans face, we all find ourselves struggling to cope & navigate pain. Bought one for myself and one for a family member - she devoured it in one sitting then passed on to her loved one. Simple, yet brilliant!! All school's should have this in their counselor offices & libraries - no matter the grade.
  • Beautifully done Holly! I’m so glad you shared your journey toward wholeness.
I plan on keeping this book on hand to share with my patients. I work as a Faith Community Nurse touching the marginalized and underserved in south Texas. Most of my patients are dealing with anxiety and depression; many are low literacy.

This book may be a beautiful springboard to launch into a conversation about complex issues. -Charlotte Slack, R.N-B.C.
  • Even if you haven't been officially diagnosed with anxiety or depression, I guarantee you this little series of comics will feel like a breath of air.

I love reading this on the weekends to just stop and let myself acknowledge all the negative feelings that have built up over the week.

And I honestly feel a little better after doing that.
  • This book was super inspirational. I felt like I wasn't alone in the feelings I have around anxiety, depression, love and growth. I think more people deal with these types of mental issues than we all realize and it's helpful and inspiring to see Holly tackle them. It gives me the strength to know I can do the same. Definitely keep this book around to read it when you might need someone to journey with you. You're not alone!
  • Holly did a wonderful job of formatting her journey and experiences about being painfully human, into a funny, relatable, heartfelt and comforting read. You'll find a lot of amusing comics, along with many very honest ones, depicted with great characters and metaphors. You'll also find writing that comes straight from the soul. Some of it might make you sad because you have had those exact thoughts or experiences, some of it will be eye opening and knowledgeable to you on many topics, a lot of it will make you smile, and all of it will give you comfort and inspiration that you might be needing. Glad to have this on my shelf!
  • This book perfectly illustrates the frustrates on anxiety and self guilt. It makes you feel understood and because of that it gives you a connecting feeling knowing others go through the same thought patterns. Even at the simplest questions you ask yourself like "Should I go out?" knowing that you want to but more often than not social anxiety and fear stop you from doing so. That being said the segmented illustrations help put a "labeling" effect on these feelings and better help you overcome them the next time they come up )
  • This series of comics straddles the line of explaining depression to those without and recognition for those with. Somehow drawings and visual representations do a better job than many self-help books do. It is also short and can be dipped into so a good introduction for anyone interested the topic.
  • I really love the relatable content of Just Peachy. It gets extra lonely in this world sometimes and these comics are a nice, light way of knowing there are others that get it as well.
