I LOVE this series thus far! The boxed set makes it easier for a binge read - which I did! It is a fun group of stories. Amorette Anderson has created some wonderful characters where you can feel their friendship. Penny, Annie, Cora, and Marley have their hands full learning to become witchis - and embracing the experience with gusto! Penny's cat Turkey is THE BEST familiar in a witch series! (Turkey reads the book, too, and becomes magical as well!)
There are many reasons why I love this series and this boxed set. Besides the characters who feel so real, the situations they find themselves in can be quite hilarious! We also watch the characters grow not only as witches but in the personal areas as well. Too, Penny just LOVES Turkey - like I love my kitty! The stories are great escapes from stress! I love the small town... and the interesting beings who happen along!
Grab this boxed set and prepare to get lost in it and enjoy yourself! I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

Finally getting called in on a new case for the Hillcrest Inn, Penny goes to investigate a bloody paw print found in one of the rooms. Turkey, her feline familiar, is a favorite character who helps in her investigations. It appears that a werewolf – oh, they really exist? – has been murdered! Suspecting that werewolves may be coming through an unguarded portal into Hillcrest, Penny and her little coven, learning a Banishing spell as part of their new witch training, hope to banish the unwelcome visitors before they settle in.
The suspect list keeps growing, so Penny looks for help to get some background information she needs from her vampire neighbor. Will they all be able to find the murderer? Will they be able to stop the werewolves from invading the town? Will her coven get the banishing spell right so they can solve this problem?
This series is a delightful one that provides humor, mystery, and personal growth for Penny who is becoming more confident as she leads her coven into the investigations. Her witch skills are steadily, if slowly, improving. Turkey remains a definite favorite, and the secondary characters are a wonderful addition to the story line. Very pleasant read that I enjoyed very much. At first I thought Penny was a teenager. Then it is revealed this not so bright, ditzy girl is 27! Have no fear, she has plenty of personal growth happening throughout the series. She is so adorable it is thrilling to watch her grow and stretch. It goes perfectly with her blossoming into a talented witch PI. With a little help from her friends, of course! I like her being aware of her shortcomings, trying harder, and giving herself pats on the back when she richly deserves one! A well rounded set of stories to cozy up to with a cup of something delicious. - Penny and her friends (the knitting club) are learning how to be witches. They found a book on how to be a witch and learning how to do spells. The four friends range from young to old, but they are good friends and support each other. They are funny and charming, and Penny gets them involved in her PI business, solving cases. Her cat (her familiar) is hilarious, and smart. Add in a vampire boyfriend, a werewolf fiance, and a spirit boyfriend, and these friends solve cases in spite of their amateurness. These stories were fun to read and I just loved the characters.
- This is a fantastic series. Penny is such an adorable heroine. SHe has this amazing heart and will give you the shirt off her back, even if it does have a coffee stain. She is delightfully scatterbrained, and has a magnificent growth throughout the series. The magic has been very well researched, and it’s not a simple flick of a wrist, but contemplative spells that need the witch’s special touch. Also, Turkey is such a fantastic familiar. Trust me.
- I love this series! Penny and her familiar Turkey are so much fun to read about. Add in the rest of Penny's little coven of witches and you'll be chuckling and flipping pages nonstop to figure out the mystery.
The characters are funny, and lovable. - Following this new coven is funny and interesting. And if a mystery or two pops up. Well that’s just a bonus. But now I NEED to know... what is Annie’s familiar?
